The Consultation

We start by getting to know you over the phone. This gives me a chance to get to know you better, answer any questions you might have, and plan out your dream session.

Reveal & Ordering

At your reveal session, first, you will be presented with an individually crafted video made just for your family. Next, you’ll get to review your photos and order the ones you love!

Meet the Artist

Kristin Milito

Kristin is an international, multiple award-winning portrait photographer. For the past decade, she has worked as the principal photographer and chief operating officer of Kristin Milito Photography while overseeing a team also working behind the scenes here at KMP.

With a master’s degree in elementary education, she has previously taught kindergarten, third and fourth grade in both La Jolla, CA, and Chicago, IL. Kristin’s teaching experience strongly correlates with working with families and children and bringing smiles to life on camera.

She lives on Chicago’s North Shore and frequents the shores of Lake Michigan to nourish her love of sand and water.

Yes, you absolutely can.

We may shoot your newborn session in my private North Shore studio complete with props, clothing, headbands, gorgeous wraps and everything a new mom and baby should need.

Or the session may be held in your home, which reflects the style and experience of welcoming a new baby into your life. We will discuss both of these options and choose what is closest to the vision you have for your session.

These sessions are done in our North Shore studio, in your home or outdoors on location.

I know firsthand how challenging this new experience can be. I also know that this may be one of your first outings other than visiting the pediatrician with your new baby. I can assure you that we have everything here for you and your baby. If you forget anything, it is here, we have it. I will take care of everything for you.

I know just how exhausted you will be, I have been there myself and I am going to make photographing with your baby as seamless as possible. You don’t even have to look at the camera if you don’t want. I will tell you exactly what to do and all you will need to do is listen to my voice. It will be very private. In addition, I am a fully trained expert so we will make sure the images look exactly the way you feel, not the way you think you look. And of course, the decision is always yours. You will surprisingly feel more beautiful than you thought was possible after having a baby.

At the Pre-Consultation we will discuss this and many other details to craft the session around your family. The environment, the feeling of the shoot, and your attire are all very important details that contribute to beautiful portraiture. I make many style suggestions and you are never left to plan it alone. We are in touch the entire time leading up to your session to make sure you feel beautiful and prepared.

Newborn and family sessions typically last about 1 hour. We will take family and sibling images in the very beginning so the rest of the session will be focused on baby.

Within 24 hours from your session I will be in touch by email to schedule your Reveal & Ordering session. The Ordering session will be scheduled for 2 weeks from the date of your session.

Absolutely. It is a perfect gift for someone wanting to experience a session. Gift certificates are quite popular.

Absolutely. They are quite popular and we design a payment plan that is right for you.

Well-rested and well-fed children are ready to play and have fun! We’ll make sure your session falls during a time when your children won’t be hungry for dinner or groggy from a nap. If they feel like the shoot is part of their natural playtime, your images will burst with energy. Enthusiastically describe the activities in the days leading up to the session. If your kids see you looking forward to the session, chances are that they will too.

Absolutely. I suggest certain locations where I know exactly how the light falls, where, and at what time of day. Beautiful light is critical to portraiture and I know where to find it. Should you have a location in mind, we will discuss this during the Pre-Consultation. I am always open to new locations and will also tell you if a location will be less than ideal.
